Gear up for summer with a Green Smoothie
This Glow Up Green Smoothie Smoothie recipe has been a must for me every single year during the spring to get my body energized and lean. It’s completely balanced with fats, carbs, and proteins and is teaming with micronutrients that will bring about long lasting vitality. With spring right around the corner I can feel my body getting ready for the next step! Transitioning away from hibernation to highly active, fun filled, long summer days is quite the process.
Don’t be scared of the green color! This smoothie is super sweet and totally satisfying for everybody. I promise you will all love it, not to mention it hardly takes 5 minutes to whip up!
Avocados are rich in healthy fats that support strong and elastic skin, hair, and nails. They provide you with long term slow burning energy throughout your day, a true superfood. The avo gives this smoothie an light and airy texture when whipped together and is super delightful to sip after a workout or during your morning commute!
Adding spinach to my smoothies has always been an easy way for me to get my greens in for the day, all without shoveling down a big salad! Throw as big of a handful of fresh spinach in this bad boy as you can. The taste of the mango and banana is so sweet and smooth I promise you won’t notice the spinach. This smoothie is great for everybody in the family (especially children!), because of its sweet flavor and nutrient profile. They’d never know there’s TWO different green veggies in this smoothie if they didn’t see the color!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 large handful raw spinach
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 cup frozen mango
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup vegan milk (may need more if you don’t have a high power blender)
- 3 tbsp hemp seeds (10g protein)
Extra glow:
- 1 scoop vanilla protein of choice
- 1-2 scoop #collagen powder (optional but incredible for your skin, hair, nails, AND digestion)
- 2 tsp maca powder (great for sexual health and vitality, #superfood!)
Notes:
- If you do not have a high speed blender, I recommend adding the spinach and almond milk first. Buzz that up for a minute to make sure the spinach becomes really pulverized (almost should have the look of green milk!). This makes sure that no big chunks are left behind.
- You can use a full avocado in this too if you’d like. Be mindful of calories and if you are trying to lose weight remember it’s all about reducing calories below your specific threshold to lose those extra pounds no matter where the calories come from.
- You can use any milk in this recipe, I just prefer vegan options
- Hemp seeds are optional and can be substituted for flax seed meal (just a different nutrient profile i.e. less omega 3’s than hemp).
I love the blog. I need to go out and get some of these ingredients and try some recipes. Especially the banana PB overnight oats. Way to go Crystal!!!!
